Planning to do MBA

Many of us might have had heard about the "White collar jobs" tag used to be assigned to people in banks since Banking jobs were considered to be coolest and secure. Now a days after liberalization of norms by Government of India Banking sector was opened for every player that made the sector more competitive and more demanding to work. 

However there is one profile that has not lost the White collar tag even today i.e the Human resources. This department is most critical to source and deploy the resources as per the company's goals and objectives. The human resources are the torch bearers of any organisation who can elevate the business in any sector. Hiring human resource, managing their welfare, monitoring their performance and driving them towards company's objective can decide the company progress. So the HR department is key hub for aligning strategies.

To get into this profile, MBA in human resources is a must. Graduates from HR are in great demand from different sectors. Pay wise this department personal gets paid equally at par with other critical departments like production/Sales & Marketing.  The conventional MBA courses like Finance/Marketing/Materials Management are also in demand but MBA Finance is tougher than HR. MBA (Marketing) is of huge demand but the marketing career as a brand is not seen as a lucrative as it should be. Marketing is quite challenge career since it is target oriented and works on tight deadlines. Sales & marketing demands lot of travel which may not sink with budding graduates who are planning to do an MBA.

PSU Banks training program with Manipal School of Banking

For the last two years all the public sector banks had come out with a unique strategy to recruit young professionals by ONE YEAR TRAINING CUM RECRUITMENT PROGRAM in collaboration with Manipal school of banking  The candidates selected required to attend one year full time course at Manipal School of banking. The successful candidates will be appointed as scale I officers in their banks.

This strategy is like OLD WINE IN NEW BOTTLE.

This strategy is not different to the normal PO recruitment process where you have to go through the same process of written test and personal interview. The current Junior management cadre exam is of same standard as PO exam.

Banks never mention the training costs in PO selections notifications where as certain banks like syndicate bank, Bank of Baroda and Corporation bank in their previous recruitment notifications had mentioned the training value as 3.5 to 5Lacs for this TRAINING CUM RECRUITMENT PROGRAM.

For me this is not a good strategy by banks. Since there is a huge human resource gap in banking and insurance sector, banks should put efforts to choose the average performing graduates and nurture them to build up their career in banking. 

Banks ONE YEAR TRAINING CUM RECRUITMENT PROGRAM with Manipal school of banking should scout the regional degree and engineering colleges in various states or collaborate with them to train them in their final year to align with banking requirements. The current ONE YEAR TRAINING CUM RECRUITMENT PROGRAM exam also should be a bit more flexible to shortlist more graduates, choosing people who can be trained. This way the un employment issue in India will also be addressed. The CSR responsibility norms to be followed by Public sector banks will also be met since they join hands with rural and urban colleges for training and development of graduates.

Transportation careers: Metro Rail Projects

All my Engineering friends especially Civil and Mechanical Engineers who had gained valuable work experience may look out for booming careers in Metro rail projects. In the next 10 to 15years time GOI had ambitiously planned many METRO projects for cities that have more than 2Million population.

Last decade had seen the best phase in construction sector as many Highways and Buildings projects were executed with Public-Private partnerships. But post global economic slowdown after 2012 many Highway projects were cancelled or kept on hold due to lack of funding clubbed with many other regional issues.

However Delhi metro's success had provided an opportunity to explore metro rail projects scope in other cities of India. This segment had opened up many opportunities to engineering professional in India. Currently Delhi Phase III is underway, Hyderabad Phase I is in advance stage, Chennai Phase I 12Km stretch is already opened for public and rest of the work is advance stage, Lucknow Metro, Kochi, Vijayawada, Jaipur and other major cities are also executing metro projects. Since Roads and Buildings projects are not gaining pace it is always better to try to challenge ourselves to get into Metro projects. It may not be easy to get into these projects easily but once you are into this sector your career growth is secured for the next 20 to 25 years.

Civil Engineers have a major edge with lot of scope for Architects, Urban planners, Surveyors, QC Engineers and other related segments in Civil Engineering.

Mechanical & Electrical Engineers too have great scope in Mechanical Electrical Plumbing (M E P) departments of all metro projects with considerable opportunities for Environmental, IT, Project Management professionals also.

Majority of the Metro projects are bagged by L & T along with MNCs like RITES, IL & FS, NCC, IVRCL,  Alstom, SUCG, CRTG etc are involved directly and indirectly in project execution.

Burgeoning food crisis in India

If you see the basic reality of current world you can experience a bizarre truth that all the basic sources like food, water and air being polluted to such an extent that our future generations are prone to lose their minimum immunity standards to survive. The basic food sources i.e grains, the land and water are adulterated for increasing productivity. Cultivable land is being leased or sold by Governments to industrial giants for wealth creation. Farmers are looted after Corp is harvested by middle men.
India in which majority of the population lives on agriculture is now battling for years to uplift the living standards of agrarian families. Hundreds of farmers had committed suicides owing to the huge debts they incurred for many seasons this is clubbed with poor monsoon seasons, unhealthy corp promotion by Agricultural institutions. Cash corps like cotton, tobacco are cultivated in huge spans in Andhra, Telengana etc just to earn a bit higher in one corp and make their livelihood better. Initially cotton and tobacco generated wealth; this initial euphoria didn’t stay long as it got wiped off by constant drought seasons clubbed with adulterated seeds that sucked the life out of farmers. If the Govt of India does a reality check it can realize a shocking truth that majority of farmers in India are Below Poverty Line
NO one has identified a major crisis that is creeping slowly into this industry i.e the farm labour. The daily farm labour got enticed to attractive industrial daily wages due to which farm community are leaving farming and relocating to the headquarters or capital cities. A medium farmer or a landlord is making sure that his next generation gets meticulous grinding in academics to join the MNCs companies that look miraculously glossy. Is our GOVT going to do anything to retain and sustain the farm labour.
The bare truth is that no one is ready to accept the truth that India used to be one of the major producers of pulses but now in India we are not even meeting the average demand. We are importing pulses from countries like Canada. Pulses rate had almost doubled in the last three years with no sign to reduce in near future. Until there are no definite measures to cleanse the current system a day will come when we will be completely dependent on imports for our basic staple food i.e rice and wheat and pulses.


Shamelessly many of us know that our Indian economy is now dependent IMPORTS in various sectors like Petroleum & Natural gases, Fertilizers, Agri based products like Onions, Sugar etc the more we depend on imports the quicker we sink.
